PBR World Finals 2009 – Code Blue – 2009 PBR World Champion Bull
November 12, 2009 by KJ
Code Blue was named PBR World Champion Bull, but who is Code Blue? I am proud to bring you a little bit closer to Code Blue.
Code Blue is a light colored bull, known for to be athletic, strong, with a high-kicking bucking pattern, and Code Blue is also known as an explosive spinner. Code Blue is co-owned by four men… Rick Wagoner, Jimmy Walton, Chad Berger and Clay Struve.
Chad Berger had this to say about Code Blue “Everywhere that he’s gone, he’s shown up and has done his job to the best of his ability. He’s never had a bad day. He’s an amazing animal. He shoots forward and gets guys reared back and he whips them out of there.”
Clay had this to share “He’s an athlete. He’s getting smarter as he goes. He’s very fair. He’s given us a good ride. If they stay on him, they’re going to set records with him. That’s what we’re looking for when we bring bulls to events. I’m thinking that we’re talking big, big points when the times comes.”
And that time will come. But right now, he’s getting better faster than they’re figuring him out.”
Jimmy’s thoughts on Code Blue… “He’s smarter than people give him credit for. But Rick and I give him all of the credit because he’s just that type of bull.”
Code Blue exploded onto the PBR scene in January of 2009, in Winston-Salem, NC. Since then no bull rider has unlocked Code Blue’s secret to being a great bucking bull. In fourteen outs, Code Blue has never been ridden.
PBR President and founder, Ty Murray had these words to share He’s the total package. He’s big. He’s strong. He’s stout and he’s smart. He jumps high, kicks hard, spins fast. He’ll get rode. Sometimes it takes people awhile to find out the combination. But if they keep running a bull in there, their combination is going to get found out.”
Daisy Rookie of the Year, Cody Nance, attempted to ride Code Blue in Round 5 of the PBR World Finals. But, Cody only lasted 4.3 seconds. Cody had this to say about Code Blue “He’s a bucking son-of-a-gun. That bull, he’s got everything that it takes to be Bull of the Year. He’s real athletic and he’s big and strong and he’s got the attitude.”
During the eighth and final around of this year’s PBR World Finals, Austin Meier attempted to ride Code Blue. Austin managed to hang on for 6.5 seconds; Code Blue was awarded a score of 47.50 points. It was this amazing score that would write Code Blue into the PBR history books as 2009 World Champion Bull.
