Bonnie Springs Ranch - Nevada
On July 2, 2010 I packed up and headed west out to Bonnie Springs Ranch. My Guide for the day was Joe, who was great at showing me around the ranch, which covers one hundred and fifteen acres.
The ranch was built in 1843 where wagon trains stopped on their way to California via the Old Spanish Trail. In 1952, the ranch became a tourist destination, under the care and direction of Al Levinson and his wife Bonnie McGaugh.
The town of Old Nevada began in 1970, and today stands as a replica of a 1880’s mining town. The town has saloon, jail house, opera house, cemetery, various other stores, and boarded sidewalks.
There is also a petting zoo with wolves, lynx, deer, and peacocks can be admired. Swans and ducks glide undisturbed on the nearby pond. Visitors can also go horseback riding and relax in the hotel with dining and a cocktail lounge.
For a trip back in time, drive the short distance of twenty-five miles from Las Vegas, out to Bonnie Springs Ranch. The Old West comes alive, and every minute is an adventure.
